Black bamboo is the rarest and most beautiful in the bamboo family. The canes start out green and turn ebony black within two years. The contrast between the black canes and green foliage is striking. As far as temperature range goes, these are considered to be the hardiest of all bamboo species. Since black bamboo is slower to expand, they’re much easier to control. The wood can be harvested and is of very high quality.
