The alligator juniper is a medium-sized tree that’s known for its unique cracked “reptilian-looking” bark. The foliage is a pretty dark green but can also change into a light blue-green. These junipers handle drought really well and make for good options in the western landscape. They’re also excellent bonsai specimens anywhere and can be molded in a variety of ways.
